In 2021 we started an open group for d/Deaf community members (as well as their friends, family, and carers) to attend improvisational theatre classes with a focus on comedy. Working with interpreters we found students to be incredibly versatile and quick to pick up theatrical concepts. The classes are a vibrant form of d/Deaf expression as they lend to the community's natural ability to communicate with profound and thoughtful use of body language. Classes are ongoing and free to join. We are currently applying for interpreter funding and due to the shortage of workers, community members who can help are encouraged to contact us.
